Geometry has arrived on Educatedly! We’ve added five new lessons for upper elementary, all built around one simple idea: look closely, compare, and name what you see. Here’s what’s new on the site:
Math
- Lines, Rays, and Line Segments (Grade 3-5) — look at the ends: arrows keep going, endpoints stop.
- Parallel and Perpendicular Lines (Grade 3-5) — never cross, cross, or cross at a square corner?
- Types of Angles: Acute, Right, and Obtuse (Grade 3-5) — compare any angle to 90° to name it, with a clock-hands check.
- Classifying Triangles by Sides (Grade 3-5) — use tick marks and count the equal sides: equilateral, isosceles, or scalene.
- Classifying Triangles by Angles (Grade 3-5) — find the biggest angle and compare it to 90°: acute, right, or obtuse.
These five lessons pair naturally with our existing Area vs. Perimeter lesson to form a short geometry sequence for grades 3-5: Lines, Rays, and Line Segments → Parallel and Perpendicular Lines → Types of Angles → Classifying Triangles by Sides → Classifying Triangles by Angles → Area vs. Perimeter. Starting with lines and rays gives students the building blocks for angles, since every angle is made of two rays.
Every lesson comes with a short video, a free worksheet with an answer key, and an infographic — no login required.
